WELCOME!

Welcome to Shady Acres Farm! Our main focus is raising top quality Painted Desert sheep with excellent horn genetics. We were fortunate to purchase the Big Rock flock out of the North Okanagan in British Columbia to get us started. Since that time we have diversified our bloodlines by importing rams from California in 2021 and Texas in 2023. Although our main focus is our Painted Deserts, you will also find Nigerian Dwarf goats and Miniature Donkeys on our farm. 

WHY PAINTED DESERT? 

We chose Painted Desert sheep first because of how they look. They come in every color and pattern, and the rams grow trophy sized horns! They are very low maintenance - they are hair sheep so they shed their winter coat requiring no shearing or tail docking! They are closer to wild sheep so they require almost no intervention at birthing and generally have twins and triplets at lambing. They do well both in heat and cold - making them ideal for Alberta weather , and their meat is lean and mild in flavor!

AVAILABLE STOCK
